Day 1: February 9 – Arrival in Bissau
Flight to Bissau. Transfer from Osvaldo Vieira International Airport to Azalai Hotel in the heart of the city. Overnight stay.
Day 2: February 10 – Bissau → Bolama → Bubaque Island (Bijagós Archipelago)
Morning speedboat to Bolama, the former colonial capital. Visit its time-frozen colonial buildings now repurposed by locals. Continue to Bubaque Island. Hotel accommodation at Casa Africa.
Day 3: February 11 – Bubaque → Ambuduco → Orango → Bubaque
Experience traditional shellfish gathering with Bijagó women (tide dependent). Trek to the sacred village of Ambuduco through mangroves and palm groves. Visit to Orango Island for hippo tracking. Return to Bubaque, overnight at Casa Africa.
Day 4: February 12 – Bubaque → Soga Island → Bubaque
Morning trip to Soga Island (tide dependent) to observe animist rituals related to female initiations. Engage with village elders. Return to Bubaque. Overnight at Casa Africa.
Day 5: February 13 – Bubaque → Canhabaque Island → Bubaque
Morning trek on Canhabaque Island between Bijagó villages and untouched beaches (tide dependent). Return to Bubaque. Overnight at Casa Africa.
Day 6: February 14 – Bubaque → Bruce → Bubaque (Carnival)
Full day of Carnival celebrations. Enjoy local parades, dances, and festivities featuring the Bijagós queens. Overnight at Casa Africa.
Day 7: February 15 – Bubaque → Bissau (Carnival)
Early transfer to Bissau and Azalai Hotel. Participate in final Carnival day in the city. Overnight in Bissau.
Day 8: February 16 – Bissau → Quinhamel → Bissau
Day trip to Pepel village, known for its traditional medicine and mystical heritage. Return to hotel and prepare for departure. Airport transfer.
Day 9: February 17 – Departure
Return flight to country of origin.
